David with Guruji

David Garriguez is the principal of Ashtanga Yoga School of Philadelphia. He is one of the few teachers in the United States (and in the world) certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga Yoga Master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. As the Herald of Ashtanga, he builds his teaching on the idea that “anyone can practice” (as Sri K. Pattabhi Jois used to say). He devoted his life to sharing the beauty and spirit of Ashtanga Yoga with everyone.

David’s mission is to be part of an ever-expanding circle of people who have dedicated themselves to exploring the vibrant, modern tradition and lineage of Ashtanga Yoga guru. He wants to collaborate with enthusiasts who are open and actively interested in teaching and applying instruction in such a way as to facilitate physical, psychological and spiritual growth in themselves and those around them.

Here everyone can watch online yoga tutorials for beginners at home.

He holds seminars, among which there are Mysore-intensives and advanced courses, in the USA and in different countries beyond its borders. He composed and recorded 2 kirtan discs and made a two-disc DVD on Ashtanga Yoga: A Guide to the First Series. David’s monthly blog directly dedicated to his mission abounds with his videos and articles to inspire both beginners and advanced practitioners. He recently released a new kirtan album and + 2 DVD book, “Vayu Siddhi: Guide to Ashtang Yoga Pranayama Sequence”.

Please note that this is not a teacher certification course. Only Sharat R. Joyce of the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India, can give Authorization and Certification for teaching Ashtang Vinyasa Yoga. Participants who complete the seminar will receive a certificate of completion of the course, but not teacher certification.
