A long long time before i was born my grandpa Davie Duncan bought a railway carriage for around £ 15 and had it moved to a field on a farm called Winkston.
This farm is just outside of Peebles, which is in the Scottish borders and three generations of my family grew up over the slow summers there. A genuinely beautiful part of the world.
My wife`s family are from this wee island off the coast of Donegal, Ireland. The people and the scenery cast me under a spell which has captured me forever.
Stuck out in the Atlantic ocean the air is clear and the colour constantly changing. The tang of the sea mixes well with the smell of burning turf and I always feel as if i`ve reached my journey`s end when we arrive here.
The bits you wouldn`t normally see in the tourist guides. A lot of my home town is disappearing forever, not all of it is good riddance however.
